The diversity of iguanas that exist is evidence of the workings of evolution by natural selection. The animated iguana that appears in each of the interludes is copying the same posture as Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam”, to give a comedic value to the iguana who seems to be in position of power as it makes choices on how it wants to exist. The visual design of this animation was chosen to accentuate the difference between the environments in order to demonstrate how incredibly suited each of the iguanas are to their ecosystems.
The background art work was produced by Georgina Umney. Special attention was given to differentiating the ecosystems through careful colouring and texturing. Each of these special backgrounds are hand painted and so they exist as real paintings!
The illustrated iguanas that feature in this story have been drawn, shaded and textured frame by frame.
